OTHER NOTES
- Norfolk State has had both a nine-game and 11-game win streak this season.
- Diamond Johnson, the North Carolina State transfer, is not listed in the statistical leaders in the conference because she has not played the required minimum of games.
- In two of the three games against Howard, Wheeler has been in foul trouble. The junior is the leading candidate for MEAC Player of the Year.
- Howard's recent success can be attributed to the play of Creek, Steel, Warren & Walker. Creek has scored 36 points in the past five games, connecting on 40-percent of her three-point attempts. Steel, who played sparingly during the season due to injuries, has sparked the Howard surge with 41 points and 39 rebounds in the past six games. Warren is averaging almost 16 points in the past six games and has handed out 18 assists. Walker has been coming off the bench and it has proved to be effective, reaching double figures in 12 of 13 games.
NEXT UP
Howard will be the No. 2 seed no matter the outcome. Norfolk State has already clinched the MEAC regular season title and top spot, so the Bison will wait until Friday to find out when they open in tournament play, which begins March 14 in Norfolk, Va.
