GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 5, 2024) – Howard University women's golf team grabbed second overall at the second annual Lady Bison Invite. The three-round, two-day event took place at Hawkstone Country Club (par-71, 5,990 yards) in Gainesville, Fla.
Overall, HU shot 44-over par (896), including a team-best 294 (=10) during the opening round.
Three Bison finished in the top 10, led by All-NEC selection junior
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas). The Texas native shot 7-over par (220), including 1-under (70) on Day One, and placed fourth overall.
Fellow Texas product sophomore
Morgan Horrell (Dallas) earned sixth place, shooting 11-over par (224) in three rounds of play.
Rookie
Emily Mayne (Kingston, Jamaica) rounded out the top 10, tying for 10
th while recording 14-over par (227).
Third-year Bison
Jada Richardson (Suwanee, Ga.) registered 16-over par (229), tying for 13
th, while reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles) secured a top 20 spot, tallying 232 strokes (+19).
Individually, junior
Makenna Rodriguez (Delray Beach, Fla.) returned to the Sunshine State where she tied for 29
th (237, +24).
Crosstown rival Georgetown (GU) won the 2024 Lady Bison Invitational, shooting 21-over par (873). Georgia Ruffolo and Morgan Smith led the Hoyas, finishing first (213, E) and second (216, +3), respectively.
On March 10-12, Howard travels to the Big Easy (New Orleans) for the annual Tulane Classic, presented by Chad Brownstein, hosted by the Green Waves.
