VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (February 20, 2024) – Howard University men's track & field squad finished strong at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Championships, earning second place with 109 points. The three-day event (Feb. 18-20) took place at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va.
On Championship Tuesday, four Bison competed in the short hurdles (60-meter) where they swept the competition. Senior
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.), rookie
Otto Laing (Freeport, Bahamas) and fifth-year
Darian Clyburn (Louisville, Ken.) took first (7.82), second (7.87) and third (7.89), respectively. Virginia native senior
Noah Langford (Portsmouth) also competed, placing fifth overall (8.05).

Jordan Good (Greensboro, N.C.) and
Emerson McKindra (Linden, N.J.) wrapped up the afternoon with a third-place finish in the 4x400, clocking in with a season-best 3:12.20 mark.
Good, along with third-year Bison
Kaleb Berry (Duncanville, Texas), took part in the 800-meter run. The Houston product won silver (1:53.94) while Good earned fourth overall (1:53.99).
In the field, juniors
Kyle Fisher (Duluth, Ga.),
Chase Drewery (Waldorf, Md.) and
Sean Wray (Stafford, Va.) placed second (15.10 meters), fourth (14.88 meters) and eighth (14.20 meters), respectively, in the triple jump.
With his pair of silver medals in the triple jump and long jump, Fisher was named MEAC Men's Indoor Field Outstanding Athlete.
Norfolk State (NSU) collected 178 team points to claim their third straight indoor title (13
th overall). NSU head coach Kenneth Giles was named the meet's Outstanding Coach while Spartans' Victor Jumo was selected MEAC Men's Indoor Outstanding Runner.
On March 1-3, the Bison will travel to Boston for the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships. This will be there last meet before the NCAA Indoor Championship, which begins March 8.
