King Earns MEAC Weekly Accolade

D.C. product wins MEAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season

NORFOLK, Va. (November 26, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its women's basketball weekly accolades where Howard University freshman standout Saniyah King (Washington) earned the league's Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The announcement came Tuesday morning.
 
For the week, King averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds for the Bison. In the home win over New Hampshire (Nov. 23), she tallied 17 points, six dimes and four boards.
 
This season, King ranks third in the MEAC with 4.0 assists per game.
 
Graduate guard Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) and junior forward Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) received honorable mention for their efforts during the week.
 
Norfolk State guard Diamond Johnson was named MEAC Player of the Week while fellow Spartan forward Kierra Wheeler earned Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Howard travels to Williamsburg, Va., to take on William & Mary Friday (Nov. 29). Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
