NORFOLK, Va. (November 12, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its women's basketball weekly accolades where Howard University guard
Saniyah King (Washington) took home the league's Rookie of the Week. The announcement came Tuesday.
The D.C. native led HU to a 2-1 mark, averaging 10.3 points, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals. In her collegiate debut at Florida A&M (Nov. 4), she notched 13 points, five dimes and a pair of steals against the Rattlers. Friday (Nov. 8), King produced 14 points, four assists and two steals in the home victory over crosstown rival George Washington.
Graduate guard
Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) received honorable mention after averaging 17.7 points in the three-game span.
Norfolk State guard Diamond Johnson was named MEAC Player of the Week while fellow Spartan senior forward Kierra Wheeler earned Defensive Player of the Week.
Wednesday (Nov. 13), Howard goes to Emmitsburg, Md., to take on Mount St. Mary's. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
