LOUISVILLE (January 12, 2024) – Howard University men's and women's track & field opened the weekend at the annual Rod McCravy Invitational, hosted by the University of Kentucky, where several Bison hurdlers shined.
On the men's side, three Bison advanced in the short hurdles (60-meter). Senior
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) won his heat with an 8.09 mark while rookie
Otto Laing (Freeport, Bahamas) and fifth-year hurdler
Darian Clyburn (Louisville) ran non-AQ times of 7.91 and 8.03, respectively.
For the women, senior
Kaya-Rae Dunbar (Burtonsville, Md.) and graduate
Simone Watkins (Frisco, Texas) competed in the 60-meter hurdles, running non-automatic qualifying marks of 8.41 and 8.60, respectively.
Other notable performance on the track included graduate sprinter
Goba Dan-Princewill (Houston) advancing in the 60-meter dash, clocking in at a non-AQ time of 6.82.
In the field, third-year Bison
Kyle Fisher (Duluth, Ga.) took seventh place in the long jump (7.29 meters) while graduate
Nyagoa Bayak (Westbrook, Mass.) finished 10
th overall in the high jump (1.70 meters).
Howard wraps up the weekend Saturday (Jan. 13) with meets at the Rod McCravy Invite and the HBCU Showcase in New York.
