Columbia, Mo. (September 27, 2023) – Howard University women's golf team finished strong at the Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by the Mizzou Tigers.
HU shot 9-over par (297) in the final round, moving up three slots and taking seventh overall (893, +29).
Second-year Bison
Morgan Horrell (Dallas) led the charge, shooting 1-under par (71) with five birdies in the third round. Overall, the Dallas native recorded 5-over par (221) and tied for 25
th in the standings.
Junior
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) registered 3-over par (75) on day three, including four birdies. She finished the tourney tied for 27
th overall (222, +6).
Fellow classmate
Jada Richardson (Suwanee, Ga.) had her best round of the event, posting 3-over (75) on the final day. The Georgia native registered 243 (+27) in three rounds of action.
Sophomore
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles) finished tied for 35
th (225, +9) after shooting 4-over par (76) in round three.
Lipscomb held on to win the 2023 Johnie Imes Invitational (860, -4), defeating Missouri by two strokes (862, -2). Lauren Thompson led the squad to victory, claiming the individual medal with a 7-under par performance (209). Mizzou's Melanie Walker finished runner-up (211, -5).
On Sept. 30-Oct. 1, Howard travels to nearby Annapolis, Md., for the Navy Fall Invitational, hosted by the Mids.
