Men’s Soccer Announces 2023 Slate

Bison begin season with challenging road trip

WASHINGTON (July 6, 2023) – Howard University men's soccer team unveiled its 2023 slate, featuring 16 regular season matches, including a handful of contests at Greene Stadium. The announcement came Thursday.
 
"We're so eager to get back on the field," said Howard men's soccer head coach Phillip Gyau. "We have a challenging, but exciting nonconference schedule. Our guys will be ready to go."
 
After opening with a pair of tune-up matches versus Washington Adventist (Aug. 11) and at Mount St. Mary's (Aug. 15), HU begins its 2023 campaign with an eight-match road swing at Pitt (Aug. 28), a Men's Cup Semifinalist from last season.
 
Howard starts September at Patriot League Champion Navy (Sept. 1) before traveling on the Beltway to face UMBC two nights later (Sept. 3).
 
With more than a week off, the Bison challenge ACC-member North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C. (Sept. 12). Seven days later (Sept. 19), HU journeys crosstown to battle rival George Washington.
 
HU begins league play at Northeast Conference (NEC) Champion Fairleigh Dickinson (Sept. 24) before closing the month at Big Ten foe Penn State (Sept. 27). On Oct. 1, the Bison finish its long road trip at Merrimack.
 
Howard welcomes Stonehill College in its home opener (Oct. 8) before going to the Empire State to meet LIU (Oct. 15).
 
On Oct. 18, HU clashes with VMI for the seventh consecutive year in a nonconference midweek showdown at Greene Stadium.
 
Four days later (Oct. 22), the Bison square off against newly NEC member Le Moyne College inside The District before taking on another ACC opponent Duke (Oct.24), who reached the 2022 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal Round.
 
On Oct. 26, Howard hosts Sacred Heart in a midday clash before closing out the month at Central Connecticut State (Oct. 29).
 
HU wraps up the regular season with Saint Francis on Senior Night (Nov. 2).
 
The three-day NEC Tournament will take place at the regular season champion site (Nov. 5, Nov. 9 & Nov. 12).
