PHILADELPHIA (April 28, 2023) – Howard University men's and women's relay teams headlined Day Two of the Penn Relays, each advancing to the final round.
MEN
Graduate
Dylan Beard (Baltimore), seniors
Ashton Daniel (Athens, Ga.) and
Ja'Leak Perry (Atlanta) and rookie
Dylan Gaines (Houston) won their heat in the 4x100 relay, running an automatic qualifying time of 41.07.
Individually, Beard competed in the 110-meter hurdles where he made the final round with a 14.13 mark. Teammate senior
Kameron Davis (Miami) also took part and joined Beard in the finals with a 14.20 time.
In the field events, sophomore
Sean Wray (Stafford, Va.) leaped 6.96 meters in the long jump, placing him 11
th overall, while fellow classmate
Kyle Fisher (Duluth, Ga.) represented HU in the triple jump, hopping 13.76 meters and finishing 11
th in the standings.
WOMEN
Senior
De'ja Dade (DeSoto, Texas), junior
Darci Khan (Stockbridge, Ga.) and sophomore
Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.) and
Lamaria Washington (Miami) participated in the 4x100 relay, clocking in at a non AQ mark of 45.20.
Individually, Khan reached the 100-meter hurdles final with an automatic qualifying time of 13.56.
Washington competed in the 100-meter dash where she made the final round, producing a non AQ time of 12.06.
In the field, newcomer
Ija Mumford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) took part in the triple jump where she placed 18
th overall (5.52 meters).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
HU wraps up the weekend Saturday (April 29) with Championship Saturday in Philly. First race starts at 1:10 p.m., with the women's 4x100 relay.
