DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 23, 2023) – Howard University women's golf team sits in third place after round one of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, held at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
 
Overall, the Bison shot 24-over par (312), led by graduate Kyra Cox (South Salem, N.Y.). The New York native recorded a 74 (+2) after day one and currently third in the player leaderboard.
 
Sophomore Jada Richardson (Suwanee, Ga.) is tied for seventh overall, posting a 4-over par (76) after 18 holes.
 
Defending NEC Champions Sacred Heart (SHU) leads the pack after round one, shooting 15-over par (303). Merrimack College is seven strokes behind the Pioneers (310, +22), followed by HU.
 
Individually, SHU's Chantal El Chaib and Kailee Welch are tied for first in the player leaderboard at even par (72).
 
The action continues Monday (April 24) with the second round, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
