DURHAM, N.C. (February 24, 2023) - The Howard University women's basketball team is making its late-season push, having won six-of-its-last seven, the latest a 64-56 road win over conference leader Morgan State Monday (Feb. 20) in Baltimore.
The push continues when the Bison travel to Durham, N.C., to take on the Eagles of North Carolina Central (12-14, 6-5 MEAC) Saturday, Feb. 25. The game tips off at 2 p.m. and will be shown on NCCU's Network

In the win over the Bears, junior guard
Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) led the way again with a game-high 24 points. Backcourt mate, graduate guard
Aziah Hudson (Massapequa, N.Y.), contributed 14 points while senior forward
Brooklynn Fort-Davis (Chicago) stepped with 12 points and seven rebounds.
The Howard defense avenged an earlier 79-41 loss to Morgan State in Burr Gym on January 21. In addition to the scoring of the trio, the Lady Bison defense stepped up, limiting the Bears to 31-percent shooting.
Howard also got a meaningful contribution from junior guard
Kaniyah Harris (Capital Heights, Md.), who tallied six points, six rebounds and five assists.
NC Central had its two-game win streak snapped, 92-74, at Maryland Eastern Shore Monday (Feb. 20). The Eagles, who are jockeying for seeding in the upcoming Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament (March 8-11 in Norfolk, Va.), are led by redshirt junior guard Kimeria Burks (12.0 ppg, team-leading 39 total steals, 38 total assists), freshman guard Jerni Kiaku (11.3 ppg, 59 total assists) and redshirt sophomore forward Morgan Callahan (8.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg).
MEAC STATS: Howard leads the conference in assists/turnover ratio and second in 3-pointers made per game (6.1), assists (11.7), three-point shooting percentage (30-percent), free-throw shooting (70-percent) and field-goal percentage defense (38-percent). HU is also third blocked shots (3.3).
Individually, Howell is having another all-conference season, leading the MEAC in scoring (16.4 ppg) and field-goal percentage (41-percent). She is second in three-point shooting (36-percent) and third in three-pointers made per game (2.5).
Hudson is fourth in free-throw shooting (75-percent), fifth in three-pointers made per game (1.9) and sixth in scoring (12.6 per game).
Harris leads the conference in both assists and in assists/turnover ratio.
Junior forward
Kaiya Creek (Seat Pleasant, Md.) is seventh in blocked shots.
BISON HOOVES: Howell and Hudson have combined for 96 of the team's made three-pointers on the season.
SERIES RECORD: Howard has won three-in-a-row and leads the series, 12-2, since 2013. NCCU's last win came, 89-71, on February 24, 2020, in Durham.
NEXT UP: Howard ends its four-game road trek Monday (Feb. 25) when it travels to Orangeburg, S.C., to take on the Bulldogs of South Carolina State at 5:30 p.m.
