BETHLEHEM, Pa. (October 23, 2023) – Howard University women's golf sits atop of the team leaderboard after Day One at the Lehigh Invitational, hosted by the Mountain Hawks.
HU shot 20-over par (308) overall, three strokes better than FDU and Fairfield.
Reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year sophomore
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles) leads the Bison, shooting 2-over (74) in round one with three birdies. Currently, the Los Angeles native sits in third place.
Fellow classmate
Morgan Horrell (Dallas) registered a 75 (+3) with all three birdies coming in the front nine. She is tied for fourth in the player leaderboard.
Newcomer
Emily Mayne (Kingston, Jamaica) rounds out HU in the top 10, tying for seventh overall (76, +4).
Juniors
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) and
Jada Richardson (Suwanee, Ga.) produced an 83 (+11) after 18 holes of action, tying for 41
st place.
Fairfield's Julia Towne and Albany's Mariel Tee are tied for the top spot after shooting 1-over par (73).
Howard wraps up the tourney Tuesday (Oct. 24), starting at 11 a.m.
