Saturday's showdown will be the first-ever meeting between Howard and Mississippi State.
HOWARD
HU (31-23) looks to avoid elimination after dropping its opener against No. 2 Florida State, 8-0.
Entering the regional, HU won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title for the second time in program history (first since 2007). Howard received the MEAC's automatic bid after defeating long-time rival Morgan State twice on Championship Saturday (May 14).

MISSISSIPPI STATE
MSU (33-25) fell to South Florida (USF) in the NCAA Regional opener, 4-0.
Before arriving to Tallahassee, the Bulldogs were coming off back-to-back extra-inning games in the SEC Tournament against No. 18 LSU and No. 10 Tennessee. MSU finished the season ranked No. 30 in the NCAA RPI while playing the fourth-toughest schedule in the nation.
Mississippi State is led by NFCA All-South Region selections Mia Davidson and Chloe Malau'ulu.

Friday (May 20), the Bison dropped its NCAA Regional opener against overall No. 2 Florida State (FSU), 8-0, in five innings.
