Gregory Odom (Memphis, Tenn.) and
Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) are tied atop the individual leaderboard at the PGA Works Collegiate Championships, shooting 3-under par (69) after day one.
"The guys played within themselves," said Howard Director of Golf
Sam Puryear. "It was rainy and cold when we started. But we stayed patient because we knew it was going to be a long day. Every single guy at one point in the round played well."
Texas Southern's William O'Conner and Devansh Chadha and Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Patrick Mwendapole are tied for third, recording a 70 (-2) after round one.
Overall, the Bison sit one stroke (290, +2) behind Texas Southern (289, +1) and three strokes ahead of third-place Florida A&M (293, +5).
Junior
Edrine Okong (Lugazi, Uganda) and rookie
Justin Green (Chesapeake, Va.) shot a 76 (+4) and tied for 25
th in the individual standings while second-year Bison
Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.) produced a 77 (+5) after round one.
HU resumes play Tuesday (May 3) at the Union League Golf Club at Torresdale in Philadelphia.
