GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 9, 2022) – Howard University men's track and field team competed in the Aggie Invitational, hosted by North Carolina A&T State University.
On the day, HU saw a pair of throwers earn first-place finishes.
Senior
Mekhi Abbott (Monroe, N.J.) won the javelin, throwing nearly 195 feet (43.82 meters), while junior
Ezra Monteiro (New Port, R.I.) claimed gold in the hammer with a mark of 47.02 meters (154'3").
Third-year Bison
Nnamdi Olebara (Bowie, Md.) also competed in the hammer where he took third overall (43.82 meters).
On the track, graduate
Dylan Beard (Severn, Md.) reached the 110-meter hurdles final after producing an automatic qualifying time of 13.93. In the final, the Maryland native finished third overall, clocking in at 14.23.
Senior
Ashton Daniel (Athens, Ga.), juniors
Richard Ninamou (Louisville, Ky.) and
Ja'Leak Perry (Atlanta) and sophomore
Zachary Hawkins (Loganville, Ga.) competed in the 4x100 relay, earning fourth place with a 41.37 time.
On April 15-16, Howard continues its spring season in Norfolk, Va., for the Norfolk State Invitational, hosted by the Spartans.
