PRINCETON, N.J. (April 9, 2022) – Howard University men's golf team competed in two rounds at the Princeton Invitational, hosted by the Tigers, where they sit tied for 12
th in the standings.
After round one, the Bison shot one-under par (287) and sat in fifth place. Next round, HU registered a 298 (+10) and fell to 12
th in the standings.
Seniors
Gregory Odom (Memphis, Tenn.) and
Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) lead the Bison with outstanding performances during the first 36 holes.
Whiten was tied for first in the individual standings after round one, shooting 5-under par (67), while Odom placed tied for ninth with a score of 70 (-2).
In round two, Odom kept his consistency with another 70 (-2); thus, tying him fifth overall. Whiten shot 3-over par (75) in the second round but produced 10 birdies on the afternoon.
Sophomore
Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.) posted a 149 (+5) after two rounds, followed by junior
Edrine Okong (Lugazi, Uganda) and newcomer
Justin Green (Chesapeake, Va.) scoring 155 (+11) and 156 (+12), respectively.
Princeton holds the top two spots, shooting 17-under (559) and 18-under (560), respectively. Seton Hall sits in third, only seven strokes behind the leader.
Princeton's William Huang leads all golfers after 36 holes, posting a 135 (-7) mark.
HU concludes the weekend with the final round Sunday (April 10) at the Springdale Golf Course. The final round commences at 8:15 a.m.
