WASHINGTON (March 25, 2022) – Howard University softball team resumes Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play with a three-game series versus Coppin State (CSU). Saturday's (March 26) doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. and Sunday (March 27) single, seven-inning game starts at noon.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
HOWARD
HU (10-18, 1-2 MEAC) enters the weekend with a .283 hitting percentage, which second in the conference.
Freshman standout
Victoria Brown (Carson, Calif.) leads the league with a .404 batting average while producing a 1.044 OPS with 18 RBIs, 10 runs scored, four walks and three triples.
In the circle, graduate
Analise De La Roca (San Pedro, Calif.) has appeared in 16 contests (10 starts) while accumulating a 3.88 ERA with 42 Ks, which is tied for third in the MEAC.
COPPIN STATE
CSU is seeking its first win of the season (0-19, 0-3 MEAC) while looking to break a 21-game slide, dating back to May 2021.
Shawnee Ronyak leads the club with a .310 batting average while Avianna Peterson enters with a team-leading .938 OPS with 10 runs scored, eight walks and three RBIs.
Vanessa Carrizosa spearheads the Eagles' pitching staff, starting all 10 games with 45 strikeouts (2
nd in the MEAC).
LAST TIMEOUT
On March 23-24, Howard faced Siena and Hofstra where they went 1-2 overall.
Wednesday (March 23), the Bison earned a split versus Siena at Washington Nationals Youth Academy in southeast D.C. HU dropped the opener, 3-1, but rebound in the nightcap, rallying to win 2-1.
The next day (March 24), HU fell to Hofstra, 4-1, at Washington Nationals Youth Academy in southeast D.C.
