WASHINGTON (March 10, 2022) – No. 1 Howard University women's basketball team continues its quest for another Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship Friday (March 11) when they meet No. 5 Maryland Eastern Shore in the league semifinal round. Tipoff is slated for noon inside the Norfolk Scope Arena.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
Thursday's showdown will be the third meeting between Howard and Eastern Shore with both squads grabbing road victories.
On MLK Day (Jan. 17), Howard dominated the Hawks, 67-52, inside the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
A little over two weeks later (Feb. 5), HU fell to The Shore, 66-59, at The Burr.
HOWARD
HU (18-9) began its quest for another MEAC banner Wednesday (March 9), rolling past Delaware State in the conference quarterfinals, 87-51. Since February, the Bison are 8-2 overall.
This season, the Bison are led by junior
Iyanna Warren (Accokeek, Md.) and sophomores
Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) and
Anzhane' Hutton (Dallas). After the season, Hutton received All-MEAC First Team recognition and All-Defensive Team honor while Howell and Warren earned All-MEAC Second Team.
MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE
Eastern Shore (12-15) enters the semifinal round after knocking off No. 4 Coppin State, 73-65. In that contest, Zamara Haynes scored a career-high 25 points in the win.
This year, the Hawks are led by All-MEAC selection rookie Ariana Seawell.
LAST TIMEOUT
Wednesday (March 9), HU advanced to the MEAC Semifinal Round after an 87-51 victory over No. 8 Delaware State inside the Norfolk Scope Arena.
A dozen Bison scored in the win, led by Howell and Hutton. Howell finished with a team-leading 16 points while the Dallas native fell just short of a double-double (11 points and nine rebounds).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
With a victory, Howard awaits the winner between No. 2 Norfolk State and No. 3 Morgan State for a chance to dance in the NCAA Tournament. Saturday's title game starts 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
