Men’s Hoops Squares Off Against Delaware State Saturday

Bison face Hornets in a conference rematch

WASHINGTON (February 11, 2022) – Howard University men's basketball team squares off against the Delaware State (DSU) Hornets inside Burr Gymnasium Saturday (Feb. 12). Game-time is scheduled for 4 p.m.

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS
 
Effective January 15, 2022, in compliance with the District of Columbia's Vaccination DC policy, all guests ages 12 years and older are required to show proof of vaccination to enter Burr Gymnasium.
 
PLEASE NOTE: Burr Gymnasium will be operating at 50-percent capacity during events until further notice.
 
Guests aged 12 and older must provide proof of having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by January 15, 2022 to enter. For those taking a two-dose vaccine, Pfizer or Moderna, proof of a second dose will be required for entry beginning February 15, 2022.
 
MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
Monday (Feb. 7), the Bison held off a scrappy DSU squad on the road inside Memorial Hall, 69-64.
 
Graduate sharpshooter Kyle Foster (Hampton, Va.) led the way, finishing with 21 points on 50-percent shooting (6-of-12), all from behind the arc.
 
HOWARD
 
HU (11-10, 4-3 MEAC) enters Saturday riding a three-game win streak.
 
Howard leads the league in several offensive categories, including points per game (77.9), free throw percentage (.737) and three-point percentage (.365).
 
Individually, Foster tops the nation with a 49-percent (77-of-158) three-point percentage while six-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week Elijah Hawkins (Washington) sits eighth in the country with 2.5 steals per game.
 
DELAWARE STATE
 
DSU (2-17, 0-7 MEAC) continues its search for win No. 1 in MEAC play.
 
Defensively, the Hornets are anchored by conference-leader Christopher Sodom with 2.4 blocks per game.
 
Myles Carter leads the club in scoring with 14.9 points per game.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
Tuesday (Feb. 8), HU rolled past Gallaudet, 96-38, in the 12th installment of the Battle of the Bison.
 
All 11 Bison scored for Big Blue, led by redshirt sophomore Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) with 21 points on 9-for-11 shooting in the win.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On Valentine's Day (Feb. 14), Howard takes on the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks in Princess Anne, Md. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
