NORFOLK, Va. (February 1, 2022) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its men's basketball weekly awards where Howard University freshman standout
Elijah Hawkins (Washington) earned his sixth Rookie of the Week accolade. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
Saturday (Jan. 29), Hawkins put on an all-around performance against North Carolina Central. The D.C. native produced nine points, seven assists and a career-high seven steals in the road win against the Eagles.
With the victory, HU knocked off NCCU for the first time at McDougald-McLendon Arena since December 2015.

Kyle Foster (Hampton, Va.) and redshirt sophomore
Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) received honorable mention.
Norfolk State's Joe Bryant, Jr. won MEAC Player of the Week while Delaware State's Christopher Sodom took home the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
On Feb. 5, Howard returns home to face Maryland Eastern Shore. Game-time is scheduled for 4 p.m. inside The Burr.
