SOMERSET, N.J. (December 7, 2022) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) revealed its swimming and diving weekly accolades where Howard University had a pair of Bison recognized for their outstanding efforts at the Hounds Invitational (Dec. 2-3). The announcement Wednesday afternoon.
Senior
Miles Simon (Atlanta) won NEC Swimmer of the Week while second-year Bison
Jordan Walker (San Antonio) claimed the league's Diver of the Week.
Simon took home his second weekly honor after winning a pair of individual events: 50 Free (19.92) and 100 Free (44.19; conference-best & facility record). He also finished second overall in the 100 Fly, posting a NEC-best time of 48.58. Additionally, the Atlanta native guided the 200 Free Relay squad to a runner-up finish, registering a leadoff time of 19.85 (league-best).
Walker recorded his fourth weekly award on the season after two third-place finishes. In the 3-meter dive, he produced a score of 214.30. In the 1-meter event, the San Antonio product produced a 201.35 score.
Simon, along with fellow classmates
Mark-Anthony Beckles (Chaguanas, Trinidad & Tobago) and
Luke-Kennedy Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) and newcomer
Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.), were named to the NEC Prime Performers list.
The Bison are back in action January 14 at 1 p.m. as they host UMBC at The Burr.
