NASSAU, Bahamas (June 24, 2025) – Howard University swimming & diving program saw 11 Bison take part in the 53
rd annual Bahamas National Swimming Championships in Nassau.
Past, present and future Bison put on a show during the four-day event (June 19-22).
PAST
Recent grads
Mark-Anthony Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) and
Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) came away victorious in the 50-meter Breast, clocking in at 29.83 and 32.98, respectively. Z. Thompson also won the women's 100-meter Free (59.43) and 100-meter Breast (1:13.50).
Kaliyah Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) also competed in her hometown.
PRESENT
Jack Barr (Nassau, Bahamas) led the way for present Bison, winning three races: 200-meter Free (2:03.07); 400-meter Free (4:22.87) and 200-meter Back (2:21.99).
Bianca Johnson (Nassau, Bahamas) finished runner-up in the 200-meter Free (2:25.03) and 200-meter IM (2:45.59) while
Seannia Norville-Smith (Nassau, Bahamas) claimed silver in the 100-meter Free (1:01.83).
Mason Green (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and
Chanice Posada (Houston) also took part in Nassau.
FUTURE
Mia Patton,
Ayrton Moncur and
Rhanishka Gibbs showed glimpses of the future with each Bison winning an event.
Patton won four races: 1500-meter Free (18:58.28); 800-meter Free (9:35.85); 200-meter Free (2:10.62) and 400-meter Free (4:40.01). Moncur earned first place in the 100-meter Fly (57.78) and 200-meter Fly (2:21.22). Gibbs took home gold in the 50-meter Free (26.94).
