WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Howard University women's basketball team continues the December homestand in Burr Gymnasium, hosting the University of Memphis Tigers Friday for a 5 pm tipoff.

- Howell scored a career-high 22 points versus UMBC. Howell scored in double-figure in seven of nine last games, averaging 13.4 ppg.
- Anzhane' Hutton (11pts) and Iyanna Warren (10pts) joined Howell in double-figures. Warren added six dimes versus the Retrievers. Krislyn Marsh added ten rebounds.
- The MEAC named Destiny Howell Player of the Week after averaging 19.0 points per game in a pair of wins for the Bison this past week, going a combined 14-for-28 (.500) from the floor and knocking down three 3-pointers in each game. She opened the week with a career-high 21 points against Loyola (Md.), going 7-for-12 from the floor, before dropping 17 points and hitting the game-winner in overtime against Hofstra.
About the Bison
- The 2020-21 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division Champions fell in the finals of the 2021 conference tournament. However, the Bison took the league by storm last season. Despite the pandemic, Howard went 10-2 in conference play and 15-4, with non-conference wins versus LaSalle, George Washington, Mt. Saint Mary's, and Richmond.
- The Bison were selected No. 1 in the MEAC Preseason Poll.
- Three Bison was named the Preseason All-MEAC Team, Anzhane' Hutton, Kaiya Creek, and Iyanna Warren.
- Howard head coach Ty Grace enters her seventh season at the helm, named 2020-21 MEAC Coach of the Year.
- The Bison only lost one starter from last season's team.
- Last season, Howard posted the best regular-season winning percentage (.823) in school history. In addition, the Bison's defense ranked sixth nationally in field-goal percentage defense (33.9) and three-point field goal defense (25.6). Howard's 28.9 defensive rebounds ranked 30th in the NCAA led by 2020-21 Rookie of the Year Anzhane' Hutton. Hutton was also named to the All-MEAC second team, All-Rookie, and All-Defensive team.

Three Bison finished in double figures, as the Howard women's basketball team defeated UMBC, 74-61 in Burr Gymnasium.
Sophomore guard Destiny Howell scored a career-high 22 points, and senior forward Krislyn Marsh dominated the glass with a game-high ten rebounds. Sophomore forward Anzhane' Hutton added 11 points and six rebounds, and junior guard Iyanna Warren finished with 10 points and six assists.
Howard opened the second half on a 14-4 run to take a 50-39 lead with 4:39 left in the third quarter. Entering the fourth quarter, the Bison led 58-46. The Bison and Retrievers traded baskets in the fourth quarter, but the Retrievers would only get within nine points in the final period.
About the Tigers
•The Tigers enter Friday's contest after a two-week layoff.
•Memphis (7-2) last played back on December 4 when they picked up their fourth consecutive home win of the season with a 57-50 victory over Southern University.
•The Tigers is 2-2 on the road and 4-0 at home.
•Memphis defeated Southern 57-50.
•UM offense is led by Jamirah Shutes 12.1 ppg, the lone Tiger to average double-figures this season. Shutes led the Tigers in scoring in five games.
