WASHINGTON (September 10, 2026) - The Howard University women's basketball program continues to show that it is going to be a force to be reckoned with in years to come. To that end, the program announces the addition of two new members to its staff.
 
Cabria Johnson has been named assistant coach and Ebonie Williams joins the staff as general manager (GM) and chief of basketball operations.
 
"I am extremely excited to welcome Cabria Johnson and Ebonie Williams to the Howard women's basketball family," announced Howard head coach Ty Grace. "Both bring tremendous experience, passion and a shared commitment to excellence that aligns perfectly with the direction of our program."
 
Johnson is an alum and former member of the program, receiving her undergraduate degree in sport management and a master's in social work.
 
Following her playing career, Johnson has quietly become one of the up-and-coming brokers in women's basketball. She has served in a number of administrative capacities the sport of girls' basketball. Most notably, Johnson served as an assistant to Tamika Dedley at Sidwell Friends High School in D.C. From 2021-23, Sidwell Friends was one of the premier girls' basketball teams in the country, finishing 30-0 and national champions in 2023. It served as a springboard when Johnson went on to become head coach at Elizabeth Seton for the past three seasons, recorded three straight 20-plus win seasons while producing a number of nationally ranked players.
 
"I am super excited about this transition from a high school head coach to an assistant college coach," said Johnson. "As a two-time alum, it has been my dream to step foot back on campus as a coach. I look forward being a part of this program and the leadership of Coach Grace."
 
Coach Grace expounds on the addition of Johnson.
 
"As we welcome Cabria back home, I know she will be a tremendous addition to our coaching staff," Grace expressed. "She brings a strong basketball IQ, recruiting ability and a genuine commitment to developing our student-athletes."
 
A Hagerstown, Maryland native, Williams established her basketball roots in the DMV at Notre Dame Academy, earning Washington Post All-Met recognition while helping lead the program to the No. 1 ranking in the DMV area. She went on to play at Seton Hall University, earning All-Big East honors before finishing her collegiate career at Washburn University, where she was a unanimous WBCA First Team All-American.
 
Williams is the founder of Eb Williams Player Development and Beyond the Arc Foundation, a nonprofit focused on removing financial barriers for youth in under-resourced communities.
 
"Ebonie brings a wealth of knowledge, organization and leadership to our program in her role as general manager and chief of basketball operation," cited Grace. "She will be instrumental in helping us continue to build a championship-caliber culture."
 
Following college, she signed a professional contract in Iceland before transitioning into a career dedicated to developing players and building programs.
 
Williams now brings her experience as a player, entrepreneur, nonprofit founder and program builder to Howard with a clear purpose: to build people; strengthen programs and create pathways for student-athletes to thrive on and beyond the court.
 
"It is such an honor to become a part of the Howard University women's basketball program," explained Williams. "It is a championship program and I hope to add to the brand and elevate the profile of the student-athletes and the program."
 
The GM position is the first in Howard women's basketball history.
 
"As we continue to elevate Howard women's basketball, it was important for us to add people who understand what it means to compete at a high level while embracing the values and tradition of Howard University," Grace concluded. "I am confident that Cabria and Ebonie will make an impact and I am excited about what we can accomplish together."
