NORFOLK, Va., (February 6, 2019) - Howard University women's basketball forward Imani Bryant was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week.

Bryant helped the Bison in their victory against the Norfolk State Spartans over the weekend. She grabbed 10 boards, including seven on the defensive end, to go along with three blocked shots. Bryant also recorded her 12th steal of the season in that game.

Head basketball coach Ty Grace applauded Bryant, saying, "I'm very happy for Imani. She definitely deserves this honor.  She has had some injuries that have slowed her down a bit, but this is just a small testament to her determination and work ethic. She is a competitor."

In 15 games this season, Bryant is averaging 7.1 rebounds per game. She has picked up production in recent weeks, recording double digit rebounds in five of her last six games. Bryant is averaging 10.5 rebounds over that span.

The Bison own a 12-9 overall, 5-3 MEAC record. Bryant is expected to play in the team's upcoming game at Florida A&M on February 9. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
