LANDOVER, Md. (February 23, 2019) – After the conclusion of the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Championships, the Howard University women's distance medley relay (DMR) squad consisting of junior
Sydney Benson (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.), sophomore
Destiny Stanford (Woolwhich Township, N.J.) and freshmen
Melanie White (Orlando, Fla.) and
Jessica Wright (Durham, N.C.) earned All-MEAC honors for their performances Friday. The team won bronze after recording a season-best (12:11.82) in the event.
The top three finishers in each event earned All-MEAC honors.
Overall, HU men took 10
th while the Howard women placed eighth overall.
Championship Saturday saw several Bison in action.
Benson fell just shy of medaling after placing fourth overall in the women's 800-meter run (2:14.72).
Stanford clocked in at 10:43.49 (season-best) and claimed seventh in the 3000-meter run.
In the field, senior
David Hudson (New Rochelle, N.Y.) recorded a new personal best in the men's shot put (13.81m; 45'0").
On the women's side, second-year jumper
Rachel Edler (Stone Mountain, Ga.) registered a new personal mark in the triple jump (12.03m; 39'1").
North Carolina A&T State won the men's & women's MEAC Indoor titles.

On March 8-9, Howard begins the outdoor season in Wilmington, N.C. for the Seahawk Invitational, hosted by UNC-Wilmington.
