WASHINGTON (September 28, 2018) – Director of Track and Field
David Oliver and the Howard University Men's & Women's Cross Country teams ride momentum into Leesburg, Va. where they prepare for the Mason Invitational, hosted by George Mason.
The meet takes place at Oatlands Plantation, starting 10 a.m. with the women's 6K race, followed by the men's 8K event at 10:45 a.m.
LAST TIMEOUT
Saturday (Sept. 22), the Bison returned in a big way at the Eastern Shore Invitational in Princess Anne, Md.
On the men's side, senior
Tariq Fullerton (Kingston, Jamaica) finished third with a new personal best (27:15.2) in the men's 8K race while sophomore
Anthony Gordon (Clinton, Md.) and freshman
Gavin Williams (Dover, Del.) each earned a spot in the top 10.
For the women, sophomore
Destiny Stanford (Woolwhich Township, N.J.) finished second, posting a 19:07.7 mark in the 5K event while freshman
Melanie White (Orlando, Fla.) secured a spot in the top 10, registering a 19:36.4 time.
MEET PREVIEW
HU men enter the weekend after a second-place finish at the Eastern Shore Invitational. Fullerton has spearheaded the Bison, registering two top 3 performances, including a victory at the Howard Labor Day Classic (Sept. 1). Gordon and Williams each have a pair of top 10 finishes midway through the season.
On the women's side, Stanford leads the Bison with two top 3 outings, including a win at the Howard Labor Day Classic. White comes in recording two top 10 performances at the Labor Day Classic (4
th-place) and Eastern Shore Invitational (6
th-place).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
After a week away from competition (Oct. 13), Director Oliver and the Bison journey to Gettysburg, Pa. for the Gettysburg Invitational. First race starts 10:30 a.m.
