Howard rides momentum to Princeton

WASHINGTON (April 19, 2018) – Director of Track & Field David Oliver and the Howard University Men's & Women's Track & Field team travel to Princeton, N.J. for the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University.
 
The two-day event (April 20-21) takes place at Weaver Stadium. Friday's start time for field events begins 2 p.m. and Saturday's running events begin at 11:30 a.m.

MEET PREVIEW
 
Coach Oliver and the Bison look to carry over the momentum from their last meet in Fairfax, Va. Approximately 40 Bison will compete over the weekend in varies events.
 
HU starts Friday afternoon with field events, including men's pole vault and long jump and women's hammer and javelin throws. Saturday's events include the men's and women's 4x100 relay, followed by the men's and women's 1500-meter run.
 
The event brings over 100 collegiate teams to Weaver Stadium.
 
Other collegiate teams with student-athletes competing include: Adelphi, American International, Army West Point, Binghamton, Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Buffalo, CCSU, Colby, Colgate, Columbia, UConn, Connecticut College, Cornell, Dartmouth, Delaware, Eastern, Franklin Pierce, Geneseo, George Washington, Georgian Court, Guelph, Haverford, Iona, Johns Hopkins, La Salle, Lafayette, Laval, Lebanon Valley, Lehigh, Manhattan, Marist, Mary Washington, Maryland, UMBC, UMass, Messiah, Middlebury, MIT, Monmouth, Navy, UNH, NJIT, Penn, Point Park, Ramapo, URI, Rider, Rowan, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Siena, Springfield, St. Joseph's, Stony Brook, Swarthmore, TCNJ, Towson, Tufts, Villanova, Wagner, Widener and Williams.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On April 14, HU men took ninth while the women earned fifth at the Mason Invitational, hosted by George Mason University.
 
Junior Kenneth Chigbue and sophomore Uchechi Onuoha led the way.
 
Chigbue earned his share in the men's 200-meter race where he finished runner-up with a 21.52 time while clinching a spot at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in May.
 
Onuoha placed second in the women's 100 hurdles (14.11) and 400 hurdles (1:01.17) while scoring eight points in each event. As a result, the Pennsylvania native earned spots for both races in the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On April 26, HU travels to Philadelphia, Pa. for the prestigious Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
