ATHENS, Ga. (February 14, 2018) – Coach
Nicholas Askew and the Howard University Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving teams saw two school records broken on day one of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships in Athens, Ga.
Junior
KaSandra Kaplan broke the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:53 mark.
The 200 medley relay team of
Don Brazelton,
William Smith,
Alexander Barnes, and
Sidrell Williams also set a new school record, posting a 1:32.33 time, breaking the previous mark by a second and a half.
The other 200 medley relay team featuring
Devin Guardino,
Maalik Nixon,
Farion Cooper, and
Kegan Ford had the fourth-fastest time in school history, recording a 1:34.67 mark.
With the two records fall today, that brings this year's total to 10 new school record holders. A year ago, the Bison shattered 13 overall.
Coach Askew and the Bison return tomorrow (Feb. 15) for the CCSA Championships Day Two.
