NORFOLK, Va. – With the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship right around the corner, the Howard women's bowling team had three athletes recognized for their performances during the regular season.
Senior Trinity Yates picked up All-MEAC Second Team honors, followed by juniors Justice Davis and Kristyn Mitchell on the All-MEAC Third Team.
The trio also received MEAC All-Academic recognition for their performance in the classroom. MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA), as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, were eligible for All-Academic accolades.
In her final season, Yates accumulated a team-high 8,781 total pins and averaged 186.8 through 10 tournaments. She opened the 2016-17 campaign by rolling 245 at the KU Fall Invite and averaged a season-best 202.25 pins. Yates tallied at least 200 as a tournament high seven times.
Davis appeared in 47 frames individually and stands second on the team with 8,596 total pins. She has a 182.8 pinfall and knocked down a season-best 245 pins at the Kutztown Invite. She had six tournaments with over 200 pins for her high-game, including a streak of five straight.
Mitchell put up a 170 overall average this season on her way to 6,121 total pins. At the first MEAC competition, she rolled 213 for her season-high. She had four high-games of at least 200 pins and posted a season-best 1,032 pinfall at the Kuztown Invite.
