MILLSBORO, Del. (November 19, 2017) – Coach
Ron Davis and the Howard University Women's Bowling team placed 15
th at the annual Hawk Classic, hosted by conference foe Maryland Eastern Shore in Millsboro, Del.
Despite a slow start, HU closed out the tourney on a high note.
Individually, senior
Sydney Reece led the way, rolling a 204.5 in four traditional matches, including a 212 in the win over Franklin Pierce.
After dropping all five Baker matches Friday, the Bison opened day two with a victory over Monmouth, 835-764.
HU fell against conference rival North Carolina A&T State, 983-821, but rebounded with a win over Franklin Pierce, 843-797.
Howard finished day two with a pair of losses versus Kutztown, 878-771, and Caldwell, 920-863.
On the final day, HU met Coppin State in tournament play where they were swept by the Eagles, 4-0.
Howard battled Sacred Heart, but the Pioneers were too much as they downed the Bison in six, 4-2.
In their final match of the tournament, HU fought back and forth with Coppin State. Trailing, 3-2, the Bison rallied to win games six and seven to win the match, 4-3.
Senior
Joelle McLeod and sophomore
T'ea Lewis completed in all five traditional matches. Lewis averaged a 160 while McLeod produced a 156.60.
On Dec. 2-3, HU returns to Millsboro, Del. for the MEAC Northern Division Meet No. 2.
