Bison host Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M

WASHINGTON (October 19, 2017) – Coach Brent Lieba and the Howard University Women's Soccer team concludes its regular season with a pair of crucial conference matchups.

Friday, the Bison host Texas Southern (TSU) in a battle of top-tier Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) squads. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Howard concludes the regular season with Prairie View A&M on Senior Day. Sunday's new start time is 2:30 p.m.

MATCHUP PREVIEW

Texas Southern (7-5-2, 6-1-1 SWAC) has the highest scoring offense in the SWAC this season, scoring 26 goals. TSU's Paige Hayward leads the conference in multiple offensive categories while Tamryn Syron ranks No. 1 in the conference with a 0.95 goals against average this year.

Prairie View A&M (5-6-1, 5-2-1 SWAC) sits a half-game behind Howard for the fourth spot. Currently, the Panthers are riding a two-match winning streak. Coach Abe Garcia's squad is led by Mila Bustos, a 2017 preseason All-SWAC first team selection at defender.

Howard (7-9, 5-2 SWAC) looks to get back on track after a tough nonconference loss at Yale, 2-1. HU remains in contention for the SWAC Regular Season Title; however, needs Alcorn State and Arkansas Pine-Bluff to knock conference-leading Grambling State. Senior Kela Gray ranks among the league leaders in goals with five.

LAST TIMEOUT

Coach Leiba and the Bison saw its winning streak end after a 2-1 decision in favor of Yale (YU).

Senior goalkeeper Gabrielle Emilien racked up a match-high 19 saves in the loss.

Late into the match, HU fought back and sliced the deficit after senior Noelle McCullom scored on a penalty kick, 2-1.

THEME

HU Senior Day will take place Sunday versus the Panthers. Before the match, six Bison will be recognized for the hard work and dedication on and off the field: Emilien; Gray; McCullom; Jordan Bynoe; Alexia Moore; and I-sis Wilson.
