Ron Davis and the Howard University Women's Bowling team begin its 2017-18 campaign at the Kutztown (KU) Bud Whitman Memorial. The two-day tournament takes place at Berks Lane in Reading, Pa.
SEASON IN-REVIEW
A year ago, the Bison went 45-74 (11-13 MEAC) and advanced to the conference semifinals before falling to eventual Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Champions Maryland Eastern Shore, 4.5-1.5.
This season, HU brings back six Bison and look to make another deep run in the MEAC Tournament. Senior
Kristyn Mitchell returns as the squad's top bowler after earning All-MEAC honors a year ago.
Before the season, Howard was projected to finish third in the MEAC Northern Division behind Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware State.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
Saturday, HU begins the tournament with five baker matches. Howard meets No. 14 St. Francis (Pa.) in the opening round, followed by Wilmington, No. 24 Youngstown State, Saint Peter's, and No. 25 Duquesne.
Sunday, Howard concludes the weekend with five traditional matches. HU starts Sunday with No. 16 LIU-Brooklyn, then faces St. Francis (N.Y.) twice, Medaille and Caldwell.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
HU returns to the lanes Nov. 3-5 at the Fairleigh Dickinson (FDU) New Jersey Jamboree in Stratford, N.J.
