SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Howard volleyball team is making the trek to Indiana to take part in the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame at Purcell Pavilion.

HU will start the two-day tournament on Friday, Sept. 2 at 4:30 p.m. against No. 24 Purdue. On Saturday, the Bison will face the Irish at 12:30 p.m. before closing the weekend against Coastal Carolina at 4:30 p.m.  

The Bison are off to their best start in over five years with a 4-0 record. The squad claimed its first win in Burr Gym on Tuesday night with a 3-1 triumph over UMBC. Junior Khaila Donaldson is averaging a team-best 3.06 kills per set while senior Morgan Marlbrough has a 4.25 digs/set average. Sophomore Tamia Dockery has tallied 154 assists (9.62 assists/set) so far.

The Boilermakers went 2-1 at their home-opening tournament last weekend. Purdue bested Wyoming and Washington State before falling to then-ranked No. 24 Kentucky. This will be the first time that Howard and Purdue have met on the hardwood.

In its first tournament of 2016, Norte Dame collected a trio of victories, all by three-set sweeps. The Irish took down Seton Hall, Cleveland State and Western Michigan.

Like the Irish, Coastal Carolina swept its first tournament of the season after defeating Florida A&M, FIU and Miami in three-sets at the FIU Invitational.
