WASHINGTON (September 26, 2026) – The Howard University women's volleyball team looks to take down rival Morgan State (MSU) for the first time this season. Catch the game Sunday, Sept. 27, at Edward P. Hurt Gymnasium in Baltimore. First-serve at 1 p.m.

MATCH PREVIEW
 
Sunday's showdown is the first matchup of the year between both programs.
 
HOWARD
 
HU (1-11, 0-1 MEAC) comes in looking to get its first conference win of the season while snapping a five-match slide.
 
Freshman standout Addison Buckner (Menomonee Falls, Wisc.) ranks fifth in kills per set (286) while second-year Bison Alexys James (Houston) sits sixth in aces per set (0.43).
 
Defensively, junior libero Camryn Shelton (Charlotte, N.C.) ranks second in digs per set (3.85) while senior middle blocker Zenai Jethroe (Dallas) sits sixth in blocks per set (0.95).
 
Entering the season, Howard was projected to finish second in the league.     
 
MORGAN STATE
 
MSU (2-11, 1-0 MEAC) opened league play with a 3-1 victory over Norfolk State Friday (Sept. 25).
 
Tre'Niya Miller leads the Lady Bears, ranking fifth in the conference with 0.97 blocks per set.
 
Before the year, Morgan State was picked fourth in the league standings.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
Thursday (Sept. 24), Howard opened its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), falling to Coppin State, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-20), at Burr Gymnasium.
 
HU had a hard-fought loss with amazing performances from James (20 assists), Jethroe (nine kills) and Shelton (11 digs).
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
Starting the month off right, Oct. 1, Howard takes on Delaware State inside Burr Gymnasium for Greek Night. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
