WASHINGTON (September 23, 2026) - Howard University women's volleyball team looks to secure its second win of the season against reigning MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Champion Coppin State University (CSU) Thursday (Sept. 24) at 6 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium. This matchup will be streamed on the MEAC Network.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
Facing another regional opponent, the Bison look to secure their second win of the season as they engage with their first conference opponent.
 
Coppin State is coming into the game on a seven-game winning streak, defeating New Haven in West Haven, Conn.
 
Entering the season, both programs were predicted to finish atop the MEAC standings.
 
HOWARD
 
HU (1-10) is seeking to snap its four-game slide while opening league play in the win column.
 
Seniors Zenai Jethroe (Dallas) and Kaitlynn Robinson (Oklahoma City) were selected to the MEAC Preseason All-Conference Team, alongside sophomore Alexys James (Houston).
 
Jethroe, over the past 10 games, has accumulated 80 kills with a .273 hitting percentage. At George Washington (Sept. 12), she tied a match-leading three blocks.  
 
This season, James has totaled 47 kills. In her previous match at George Washington, she led the squad with 27 assists.
 
COPPIN STATE
 
On Sept. 20, Coppin State defeated New Haven, 3-1, extending its win streak to seven.
 
Before the year, senior libero Coco Figueroa was selected as MEAC Preseason Player of the Year.
 
Teammates Cherisse Atilano and Kayden Cupid were named to the MEAC Preseason All-Conference Team.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On Sept. 19, the Bison fell at George Washington, 3-0.
 
In the game, freshman Addison Buckner (Menomonee Falls, Wisc.) led the team in kills (13), followed by junior Dayion Johnson (Jasper, Ala.) with seven kills.
 
James led the team in assists (27).
 
Junior Camryn Shelton (Charlotte) registered 14 digs in the loss.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
The MEAC competition continues Sunday (Sept. 27) as Howard will face off against Morgan State University in Baltimore. First-serve at 1 p.m.
