NORFOLK, VA --- Ten members of the Howard men's & women's cross country teams have been named to the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Academic team. The 92-member team represents sophomore, junior, senior & transfer student-athletes (with one year residency) who achieved academic success during the 2014-15 school year by achieving a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
"I applaud our men's and women's cross country student-athletes who have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average," said MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. "In addition to acknowledging the accomplishments of these student-athletes, I commend the academic support staff, faculty and coaches who contributed to the academic success of these student-athletes."
Howard's representatives on the All-Academic team gave the Bison the third-most of any school in the conference (tied with Bethune-Cookman), behind only Norfolk State (17) and North Carolina Central (11).
"We like to stress the fact that academics are first here at Howard and athletics a close second," said Howard head coach
Marc Harrison. "It is all about finding that balance. We have gotten a lot of support from the alumni who were all successful here as student-athletes. It has been a big plus for the program and the direction in which we are headed."
