Cameron Alston has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Joshua Matthews has been selected Offensive Lineman of the Week for their efforts in Saturday's 40-6 win over Texas Southern.
               
A 6-0, 190-pound red-shirt junior safety from North Augusta, SC, Alston recorded seven solo tackles, picked off his third interception of the season and returned a fumble for the first TD of his career.
               
Alston is the team's leading tackler.
               
Matthews, 6-4, 313-pound senior center from Bowman, SC, graded out at 95 percent on all blocking assignments as the Bison rolled up 458 yards of total offense.  A 2012 All-MEAC selection and first team per-season all-conference selection, Matthews recorded five pancake blocks, had no penalties and allowed no sacks.
