LAST TIMEOUT
HOWARD
Howard is coming off a thrilling 10-9 win over rival Florida A&M University (FAMU) in the season opener Saturday (Aug. 30) in the Orange Blossom Classic at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.
Sophomore kicker
Matt Conord (Lithia, Fla.) drilled the game-winner from 43 yards out with no time left. The game-winning drive was engineered by graduate quarterback
Tyriq Starks (Carol City, Fla.), who took his team 49 yards in 10 plays to set up the game-winning field goal.
The Howard defense recorded three sacks and limited the high-powered Rattlers to only three field goals.
TEMPLE
The Owls secured a 42-10 victory at Massachusetts Saturday (Aug. 30) afternoon as quarterback Evan Simon threw for a career-high six TD passes.
It was the debut of Temple Head Coach KC Keeler.
SERIES RECORD
The two teams have met only once (1991) with Temple coming out with a 40-0 victory.
WHAT THE COACHES ARE SAYING
COACH SCOTT
"Temple presents challenges on both sides of the ball, particularly with the quarterback and tight end. As a team, we need to do the basic things well to give ourselves a chance at a victory."
COACH KEELER
"Howard is a tough team, coming off a nice victory last week against Florida A&M. We will have to go into this game as we go into every game - looking to play clean by limiting penalties and turnovers - and playing strong in all three phases of football."
