NORFOLK, Va. (September 8, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its football weekly accolades where Howard University redshirt junior defensive lineman
CJ Wesley (West Orange, N.J.) was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
At Temple (Sept. 6), Wesley anchored the Bison defense with a game-high eight total tackles (five solos), including 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble.
After two games, the New Jersey product has recorded 16 total tackles (six solos), two sacks and a forced fumble.

Ben Chandler received honorable mention after registering five total tackles (four solos), including 0.5 tackles for a loss, against the Owls Saturday.
Delaware State quarterback Kaiden Bennett was named the MEAC Offensive Player of the Week. Morgan State's Maxim Copeland was selected Rookie of the Week while Bears teammate Daniel Casillas Jr. picked up Offensive Lineman of the Week. Norfolk State's Evan Helfrich was recognized as the conference's Specialist of the Week.
Saturday (Sept. 13), the Bison again take to the road when they take on the Morehouse Maroon Tigers in the annual HBCU NYC Football Classic. Kickoff at 1 p.m. The game will be played at MetLife Stadium and will be aired on HBCUGo.
