NORFOLK, Va. (April 6, 2026) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its softball weekly accolades where Howard University saw a pair of Bison acknowledged for their incredible performances over the holiday weekend. The announcement came Monday morning.
Freshman
Aniyah Whipper (Elk Grove, Calif.) won MEAC Player of the Week while fellow classmate
Amirah Lenon (Chandler, Ariz.) received the league's Rookie of the Week.
In the season sweep at North Carolina Central (NCCU), Whipper batted .875 with a 2.443 OPS, including a 1.625 slugging percentage. The California native also recorded 12 RBIs, six runs scored, four doubles, two stolen bases and a triple.
For Lenon, she produced a .778 batting average with seven runs scored. The Arizona product accumulated a 1.578 OPS in the season sweep at NCCU (April 3-4).
Senior
Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) earned honorable mention after registering a 0.00 ERA in 4.1 innings of work. She also notched her 200
th career strikeout against the Eagles.
Delaware State's Kristin White was selected MEAC Pitcher of the Week.
On April 11-12, Howard continues MEAC play with a three-game series at Morgan State in Baltimore. The series begins Saturday (April 11) with a doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a single game Sunday (April 12) at noon.
