MATCHUP PREVIEW
HOWARD
HU extended its win streak to 12 games while earning its 13
th straight conference series victory, dating back to April 2024, at Morgan State (April 11-12). Additionally, the Bison secured their fifth consecutive 20-win season.
This season, Howard ranks among the nation leaders in total stolen bases (17
th) and stolen bases per game (6
th).
In the circle, senior pitcher
Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) continues to be among the top relievers with four total saves, which ranks ninth nationally.
MARYLAND
Maryland (14-26) enters the matchup following a weekend series against No. 18 Oregon (April 11-12) in College Park. The Terps fell in the finale, 8-2, finishing the series with five hits.
Mariah Penta led Maryland, offensively, recording a three-hit performance, including a two-RBI single to account for both runs.
LAST TIMEOUT
On April 11, Howard kept its momentum going in MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) play with a doubleheader sweep over Morgan State (MSU) in Baltimore, winning game one 10-2 (six innings) before securing a 5-2 victory in the nightcap.
HU (21-13) was led by senior
Maryn Jordan (San Diego), who combined for seven RBIs across both games, including a four-RBI performance in game one and a 3-for-4 outing in game two.
The next day (April 12), Howard rolled past rival MSU, 8-0 (f/5), Sunday afternoon.
Juniors
Cheyenne Castille (Eastvale, Calif.) and
Makyia Taylor (Temecula, Calif.) led the Bison attack with two hits apiece.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Howard returns home to Nationals Youth Academy for a three-game MEAC series against Coppin State. The series begins Saturday (April 18) with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by the finale Sunday (April 19) at noon, featuring the Strikeout Cancer game.
