LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 6, 2026) – Howard University men's track & field program captured its second straight HBCU Indoor Championship in Louisville, Ky.
Collectively, the Bison tallied 156 points with several first-place victories.
On the track, senior
Dylan Gaines (Houston), junior
Emerson McKindra (Linden, N.J.) and sophomores
Elijah Grant (Fort Mill, S.C.) and
Jayvian Greene (Gainesville, Fla.) represented Bison Nation in the 4x400 relay, winning the race with a 3:17.05 mark.
Individually, Greene and Gaines competed in the 400-meter dash where they took first (47.32) and third (47.55), respectively.
Senior
Jorim Bangue (Yaounde, Cameroon) and newcomer
Jabari Dillard (Cross Hill, S.C.) went first (8.12) and second (8.19), respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles.
Graduate
Abraham Evans (Virginia Beach, Va.) and rookie
Armond Boulware (Chicago) earned gold (21.50) and bronze (21.67), respectively, in the 200-meter dash. The Virginia native also won the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 6.82.
In the field, sophomore
Solomon Young (Charlotte, N.C.) finished first in the shot put after tossing nearly 52 feet (15.81 meters).
Fifth-year Bison
Sean Wray (Stafford, Va.) claimed gold in the triple jump after leaping nearly 49 feet (14.89 meters). The Virginia product also took part in the long jump, taking silver (6.98 meters).
Central State finished runner-up behind the Bison with 91 points, followed by host Kentucky State (77 points).
On March 20-21, HU opens its outdoor seasons at the USF Alumni Invitational, hosted by the Bulls.
