FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (March 16, 2026) – BOXTOROW uncovered its 18
th HBCU Division I college basketball All-American Teams and major awards where Howard University saw three Bison receive recognition. The announcement came Monday morning.
Guards
Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) and
Cedric Taylor III (Atlanta) received BOXTOROW All-American First Team honors while fellow guard
Cam Gillus (Falls Church, Va.) earned a spot on the Second Team.
Harris became the second straight Bison (eight overall) to win MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Player of the Year after leading the conference in scoring (17.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg). Nationally, he finished the regular season among the nation leaders in free throw attempts (52
nd) and free throws made (49
th).
Taylor took home a pair of MEAC major awards: Defensive Player of the Year & Newcomer of the Year. After missing the first 11 contests due to injury, the Atlanta native became a force on both ends of the court.
On March 2, Gillus became only the second Bison in program history to record a triple-double (12 points, 11 rebounds & 11 assists) in the victory over rival Coppin State inside The Burr.
Twelve schools were represented on this year's BOXTOROW All-America teams.
Daeshun Ruffin (Jackson State) was named BOXTOROW HBCU Division I National Player of the Year while Lewis Walker (North Carolina A&T State) claimed Rookie of the Year. Tennessee State's Aaron Nkrumah and Nolan Smith took home Impact Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.
BOXTOROW has administered the All-America team since 2009.
HU takes on UMBC for first time in the Big Dance, fourth meeting all-time, Tuesday (March 17) in Dayton, Ohio as part of the NCAA First Four. Tipoff is slated for 6:40 p.m. (ET).
