WASHINGTON (February 9, 2026) – Howard University women's lacrosse team looks to bounce back as they travel to Richmond, Va., for a showdown against VCU. The game is set for Tuesday (Feb. 10) at noon inside VCU Stadium.

Howard (0-1) enters the matchup after a hard-fought battle at George Washington (GWU) Friday (Feb. 6) where they fell, 7-22.
 
Despite the result, graduate attacker Sawyer Walker (Magnolia, Del.) ended her season debut with an impressive 19 draw controls and three goals. Rookie Sophia Lima (Altadena, Calif.) scored one goal, second-year Bison Leah Croom (Falmouth, Mass.) scored twice and sophomore Kyla Newkirk (Durham, N.C.) scored one goal & one assist.
 
On the defensive end, senior Kendall Barker (Columbus, Ohio) collected four ground balls and freshman London James-Golas (Annapolis, Md.) added four saves.
 
VCU
 
VCU's originally scheduled season opener was postponed due to impending inclement weather. As a result, this matchup will now serve as the Rams home opener, marking their first game of the season at home.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
Howard returns to action for a weekend matchup Saturday (Feb. 14) at La Salle. The game is set for 1 p.m., in Philadelphia.
