Lacrosse Falls to Stonehill in Season Finale

Lima leads Bison on Senior Day

WASHINGTON (April 25, 2026) — Howard University lacrosse (3-13, 2-7 NEC) closed out its 2026 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 13-5 loss to Stonehill (11-6, 8-1 NEC) at Greene Stadium on Senior Day.

The Bison opened the contest with early energy as freshman attacker Sophia Lima (Altadena, Calif.) found the back of the net for the game's first goal three minutes into the match.

Howard later evened the score, 2-2, following a man-up goal from freshman Ryan Davis (Houston) off a Lima assist.

Stonehill responded with a decisive run to close the first quarter, scoring three straight goals to take a 5-2 lead into the second.

Junior Gabrielle Nelson (Cincinnati) converted a free-position attempt to bring Howard within three in the second quarter, but the Skyhawks answered with three more goals to extend the margin, 8-3, at halftime.

Lima sparked the Bison with two third-quarter goals, including one off a feed from freshman Rylie Davis (Houston), cutting the deficit, 9-5; however, Stonehill closed the period on a 4-0 run to take control of the game, 13-5.

Neither side scored in the fourth quarter as the Skyhawks maintained their lead to secure the win.

HU was led by Lima, who recorded a team-high four points on three goals and one assist. Ryan Davis added a goal and an assist while Nelson contributed a goal in the loss.

Defensively, senior midfielder Cecilia Vitti (Detroit) tallied six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Senior Kendall Barker (Columbus, Ohio) added five ground balls and freshman goalkeeper London James-Golas (Annapolis, Md.) finished with seven saves.

The Bison held advantages in ground balls (31-28) and finished with 22 shots, but Stonehill capitalized on key opportunities, including a 5-for-6 mark on free-position attempts.

The game marked the final regular-season appearance for Howard's senior class, honored after the match. Bison head coach Karen Healy-Silcott and the staff recognized five seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program: Barker; Chase Coleman (Houston); Tea Vasquez (Oakland, Calif.); Sawyer Walker (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) and Mia Wright (Atlanta).

Coach Healy-Silcott and the Bison continue its pursuit for a NEC title in spring 2027.
