Women’s Basketball Closes Out Home Slate Versus Coppin State

Bison looking to stay unbeaten inside The Burr

WASHINGTON, DC (February 25, 2026) – Howard University women's basketball team will be looking to extend its current win streak to nine when it takes on Coppin State University (CSU) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown Thursday (Feb. 26) at 6 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium. It will be the Bison's last home game of the regular season.

The Eagles dropped a 66-64 heartbreaker to Maryland Eastern Shore at home Saturday (Feb. 21), snapping a season-best five-game win streak. Senior guard Paris McBride led the Eagles with 14 points.
 
HOWARD
 
On Feb. 21, senior forwards Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) and Nile Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) each scored 15 points and redshirt junior guard Zoe Stewart (Terre Haute, Ind.) contributed 12 points to lead the Bison to a 66-58 win over North Carolina Central at Burr Gymnasium.

CSU is led by Darrell Mosley (Delaware State, '15), who is his first season. Howard is led by Ty Grace (New Haven, '99), who is in her 11th season and the second winningest coach in school history.
 
SERIES RECORD
 
Howard has won four-in-a-row in the series, including this year's 64-51 win in Baltimore (Jan. 22). Thomas recorded 22 points and seven rebounds while Stewart added 11 points. The Eagles were led by McBride with 13 points.
 
The Eagles last won, 63-58, in Baltimore (January 29, 2024). This is the 85th meeting between the two programs since 1985 and the Bison lead the series, 54-30.

In the MEAC, the Eagles lead the conference team offensive rebounds (16.7 per game) and rebounding margin.…Individually, Khila Morris is having an outstanding season, ranking second in three-point shooting percentage (36-percent), fourth in scoring (13.1) and fifth in assists, assists/turnover ratio and field goal percentage (43-percent)…McBride ranks fourth in assists/turnover ratio and assists…Shanai Gamble is fourth in rebounding (6.3)…Sydney Burris is eighth rebounding (6.0 per game).
 
HOWARD
 
Howard is holding opponents to 26-percent shooting from three and allowing only 61 points per game…the Bison lead the MEAC in scoring (66.0 ppg), shooting percentage (40-percent), three-point shooting defense (26-percent), free throw shooting percentage (72-percent) and assists/turnover ratio…Nationally, the team ranks 19th in three-point shooting defense (26-percent)…Thomas is 10th in free throw attempts and 20th in free throws…Thomas, the leading candidate for MEAC Player of the Year, leads the MEAC in scoring (15.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.7 per game)…Miller, who is having her best season, leads the conference in field goal shooting (47 percent)…Miller and Thomas are preseason First Team All-MEAC selections…Thomas has reached double figures in all but two games this season and has recorded eight double doubles…Stewart ranks sixth in scoring (12.3 ppg), fourth in field goal percentage (44-percent) and third in three-point shooting percentage (35-percent)…Junior forward Rayne Durant (New Haven, Conn.) is ninth in blocked shots…The 20 wins marks the third time that the program has reached that plateau since 2021…Miller was named the MEAC Player of the Week for her efforts this past week…During the eight-game win streak, the Bison are only allowing 56 points per game as only two of their opponents have eclipsed 60 points.
