Men’s Basketball Meets North Carolina Central in Another Key Matchup

Bison square off against NCCU for first place

WASHINGTON (February 20, 2026) -- Howard University men's basketball team will be looking to extend its current win streak when it hosts North Carolina Central (NCCU) Saturday (Feb. 21) at noon inside Burr Gymnasium.

NCCU is coached by Levelle Moton (NCCU, '96), who is in his 17th year and the winningest coach in school history.
 
Kenneth Blakeney (Duke, '95) is in his seventh season at The Mecca.
 
THE SERIES
 
Howard (17-10, 7-3 MEAC) defeated NCCU, 83-69, in Durham (Jan. 17, 2026). In that contest, graduate guard Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) recorded a double-double (20 points & 13 rebounds) to lead four Bison in double figures. The Eagles also featured a balanced attack, led by Takeo Carpenter, who led all scorers with 21 points.
 
The Bison have won four-of-the-last-seven matchups, but the Eagles hold a 15-8 advantage, dating back to 2011.

The Eagles (10-15, 6-4 MEAC) are coming off an 85-72 road loss at South Carolina State Wednesday (Feb. 18). Jae Slack led NCCU with 17 points in a losing cause.
 
HOWARD
 
Monday (Feb. 16), the dynamic duo of Harris and Cedric Taylor III (Atlanta) lead five Bison in double figures as HU rolled to a 91-59 win over Delaware State at Memorial Hall.
