NORFOLK, Va. (January 26, 2026) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its men's basketball weekly awards where Howard University junior guard
Cedric Taylor III (Atlanta) won the league's Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
In the win over Morehouse College (Jan. 19), Taylor pulled down a game-high 13 boards (nine defensive). Saturday (Jan. 24), the Atlanta native notched six rebounds (three defensive), two blocks and two steals versus Morgan State. During the two-game span, he averaged a double-double (22.5 points & 9.5 rebounds).
Taylor is filling the stat sheet since returning from injury, averaging 14.3 points, 6.5 boards, 3.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks in 10 contests (nine starts).
Norfolk State guard Anthony McComb III was named MEAC Player of the Week while fellow Spartan guard Adrean Newton was selected Rookie of the Week.
Howard hosts Norfolk State, the defending MEAC Champion and preseason favorite, Saturday (Jan. 31) at 4 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium.
