NORFOLK, Va. (September 30, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's volleyball weekly accolades where Howard University freshman standout
Alexys James (Houston) took home her third Rookie of the Week honor. The announcement came Monday afternoon (Sept. 29).
In the two matchups versus Coppin State (Sept. 26) and Morgan State (Sept. 28), James tallied 47 assists, 27 kills, 19 digs and eight total blocks. In Sunday's five-set comeback win over the Lady Bears, she notched her first career triple-double (29 assists, 14 kills & 10 digs).
This season, James tops the MEAC in aces per set (7
th in the nation) and total service aces (8
th in the country).

Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) and redshirt sophomore middle blocker
Zenai Jethroe (Dallas) received honorable mention.
Coppin State's Ta'Kenya Stafford was named MEAC Player of the Week while fellow Eagle Kayden Cupid earned Defensive Player of the Week. North Carolina Central's Manuela Cripa Nasser grabbed the league's Setter of the Week.
The Bison are back in action Friday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m., when they face Delaware State on the road. Two days later (Oct. 5), HU hosts Maryland Eastern Shore for Breast Cancer Awareness. First-serve at 1 p.m., inside The Burr.
